LESSONS
I have journeyed oh so far
to get where I am now.
It wasn't always easy
but I made it through somehow.
My way was fraught with pitfalls
and I stumbled now and then,
but I kept going forward,
"I'll arrive" I said, but when?
I didn't let it get me down,
I wouldn't live in fear;
That every little step I took
would bring disaster near.
Yet when there was no end in sight,
I'd sit me down and rest.
I'd look around and see the ways
that I've been truly blessed.
I found there was no reason
to feel that I was lost,
if I simply looked behind me
at the bridges I have crossed.
I noticed all the progress
I have already made.
I knew that this was guidance,
I would never want to trade.
My stumbling blocks are lessons,
that teach me every day.
I've learned the best there is in life,
is what I give away.
