FULL MEASURE

When times are bad, and no money's in sight,
It is hard to do what I know is right.
I look at my bills and I feel the strain,
Oh why must life be filled with such pain?

I turned down my heat to save on fuel.
To be cold AND hungry is really cruel.
I looked in my cupboard and found it bare,
I  had not one scrap of food to spare.

I've looked ahead, and I've looked behind,
And life as I know it has not been kind.
I started to cry, and then to shout,
"What is this living all about?"

In wonderment then, I heard a voice,
Saying, "Now is the time to make a choice.
What have you really got to lose,
Once you see what you've got to choose."

"On one hand is just some more of the same,
Poverty, illness and hurt and shame.
Or maybe more of the many fears,
You've heard about throughout the years."

"If that's not what you want, then listen to me,
There's another choice that can set you free.
It's as old as the world and as strong as the rocks,
And it takes you over your stumbling blocks."

"It will save you a lot of heartache and grief,
And it comes in one small, tiny word-BELIEF."
I felt the love in that soft gentle voice,
As it quietly said, "You must make your choice."

So my choice is made, I won't look behind,
I'm going to go forward with peace of mind.
I've learned that whatever my mind can conceive,
Is exactly - full measure, what I will receive.
